CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centres are industry-leading vehicle air-conditioning and heating professionals. In business since the 1990s, we pride ourselves on following industry best practice, being actively involved in industry developments, and ensuring our staff have up-to-date training.
We give long-term value for money rather than a quick fix that could lead to costly repairs later. We believe the only way to fix air-conditioning and heating is to fix it properly.

All five CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centres are members of the Motor Trade Association (MTA) – New Zealand’s largest body of automotive dealers, repairers and retailers. As MTA repairers, we promise to provide superior service, stand by our work and follow the MTA code of ethics.
We are members of Automotive Air-Conditioning, Electrical and Cooling Technicians of Australasia (known as VASA). As VASA members, we are recognised as professional workplaces in which all our technicians follow best practice in maintaining and repairing vehicles. We follow the VASA customer code of service and VASA code of ethics.
The environment
CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centres are committed to doing the best for the environment. As all air-conditioning systems have refrigerant, we ensure refrigerant is not lost to the atmosphere during servicing. We follow international best practice for safely installing, servicing and decommissioning vehicle air-conditioning. We advocate for New Zealand to make this best practice compulsory in the industry.
When an air-conditioning system is leaking, a cheap and quick fix is to ‘top it up’ with refrigerant (known as a re-gas). At CoolCar, we don’t re-gas underperforming air-conditioning systems, as refrigerant escapes through leaks into the atmosphere. It is also not the best approach for the long-term performance of your air-conditioning system. We recommend you get the real cause of the problem addressed, with proper repairs and replacement parts fitted. This saves you money in the long term, as well as being better for the environment.

How we came to life
CoolCar air-conditioning service centres began in Auckland in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Originally known as The Auto Air Centre, with a number of centres in Auckland, we changed our name to CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centre in the year 2000. This was to reflect our commitment to staying up to date with the latest innovations. The name also pays homage to a pioneering business of the same name which operated until the early 1990s, where many of the current CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centre owners learned their air-conditioning skills.

The independently owned CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centres are all members of CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centres Ltd. This parent company supports our five centres in focusing on best practice, and remaining up to date with innovations and standards in the industry.
CoolCar Air-Conditioning Centres Ltd works to:
- develop the five CoolCar air-conditioning businesses as centres of excellence for customers
- provide expertise and systems to continually enhance the performance of the five centres
- develop preferred supplier relationships to benefit customers.
