From leak testing, fault scans and wiring repairs to component replacement, accessory fitment and refrigeration diagnostics, we work on cars, vans, motorhomes & caravans, trucks, tractors, hybrids, EVs, classics and light commercial vehicles. ABOUT COOLCAR NORTH SHORE
CoolCar Air-Conditioning, Heating & Electrical North Shore is your local specialist for vehicle air-conditioning, heating and auto electrical repairs. We are experienced in accurate diagnosis and quality repairs, getting to the underlying cause of faults rather than simply treating the symptom. From leak detection and re-gassing to compressors, condensers, electrical faults and heating problems, we offer a comprehensive range of services for cars, vans, SUVs and light commercial vehicles.
CoolCar North Shore is owned by Rodney Smith, whose connection with CoolCar goes back to his teenage years. Rodney began his career at the original CoolCar Newton branch, working alongside industry figures Quim Silva and David Harwood.
After opening CoolCar Hamilton in 1995, Rodney & his wife, Catherine later purchased CoolCar North Shore from David Harwood in 2018 and relocated the business to its present premises. In 2020, they also acquired CoolCar Henderson from Rodney's former colleague and employer, Quim Silva.

QUOTATION
Having diagnosed the issue, our technicians will prepare a quote for the full extent of the repairs, and outline your options and the repairs required to get your vehicle back on the road, in plain English.
REPAIR
Once you've approved the work, we'll complete the repair using quality parts from trusted suppliers. All repairs are tested before returning to you and come with a 12-month warranty to assure you of the quality of our work.

Alex leads our North Shore workshop and has been a part of the CoolCar team for four years. He brings hands-on experience in automotive air-conditioning & electrical diagnosis, repair and customer service, and is calm and approachable to a fault.
Alex takes the time to explain what is going on with a vehicle in plain language and ensure that customer's requirements are understood and accommodated. He's committed to providing the best possible service for the customer possible.
LOAN CARS AVAILABLE
We understand that life does not stop when your vehicle needs repairs or diagnostics. CoolCar North Shore has a fleet of courtesy vehicles available, so can carry on with your life while your vehicle is with us. Our courtesy cars are well maintained and intended to make things easier. Need to collect the children, take the dog somewhere, or just pop down the road to go shopping. That is absolutely fine.
Courtesy vehicles are provided free of charge. We do not put fuel in the vehicles, and we do not expect them to be returned full. If you notice the fuel level is getting too low for your use, put in enough petrol for the travel you expect to do.
During the Summer months, courtesy cars are often reserved for cars having repairs performed, not evaluations.

CoolCar North Shore sees hundreds of vehicles through the workshop each year. Despite having premises big enough to house all manner of vehicles, we understand that bringing essential plant, machinery, tractors or fleet vehicles in for repair is not always practical. With our fully stocked mobile van, we can perform air-conditioning/heating & electrical diagnostics and repairs at your premises. We're flexible to your schedule and operating requirements wherever possible and committed to doing the job right the first time, saving all parties from unnecessary downtime, and inconvenient repeat visits.
We're equipped to work on farms, worksites and depots, and other commercial locations, undertaking fault diagnostics, component replacements, electrical repairs, and hose repairs on-site. We will assess the job and confirm the scope of repairs required before startingon the required work.
